Does prayer play a roll in your marriage?
When scrolling through Facebook posts are you the type of person who automatically clicks like when you see a prayer request? When a friend confesses to you that they’re having serious issues in their life do the words “I’ll pray for you” roll effortlessly off your tongue? For many people who profess a belief in the power of prayer, praying for someone is a natural and effortless reaction.
So, I ask you, if you believe in the power of prayer, are you using prayer to get you through those “rough” days in your marriage. Prayer often times provides a sense of relief, reducing feelings of anxiety. Prayer reminds you that you are not alone in your struggles.
If prayer makes you feel better and provides you a sense of peace, imagine what praying with your partner may feel like. Many times when couples are struggling, they each feel like they’re going through it alone, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
If you believe in the power of prayer, trying praying together while holding hands. Through the simple act of touching each other and sharing heart felt thoughts with each other through prayer you may find that your burdens seem lighter and that solutions seem more clear.
Can’t find the words to say? How about something like, “Lord, we come to you today asking that you help us to find a way through our situation. May our hearts hear your answer and may your answers and presence in our life and our relationship provide us with peace.”
If you believe in the power of prayer and aren’t using that in your relationship with your partner, I would encourage you to see how prayer can help strengthen your bonds with your partner.
